1. First of all can you give us a brief intro about you and your entry to the Movie Field?

My home is located at Thiruvankulam , near Thripunithura. Unlike all other Engineering Graduates, I switched to modeling after passing out in the year 2008 from Viswajyothi Engineering College.  The passion for acting was driving me to pick this field.  During my modeling days I used to give auditions to movies and that’s when I met Fazil sir.  After a 3 day audition, Fazil sir was happy with me and I was informed that I am playing a lead role in his new film. I was lucky to have a debut with such a great director.

2. A switch from modeling to acting how was it different to be an actor?

Compared to acting modeling is child’s play. Everyone with some good looks and photogenic face can do modeling. But acting is entirely different. The person should get involved and be the character when acting is concerned. Modeling needs only a pose or just a smile related to the ads and that’s the end of it. But acting requires more dedication and effort.

3. First Film with one of the best director in Malayalam movies how was the experience?

Many said Fazil sir was a tough director to be with but even from the first day he proved it wrong. He was very helpful in the locations of ‘Living together ‘and he did not allow the nervousness off a debutant affect me.

4. Rathinirvedham was one of the land mark movie in Malayalam movie industry, how does it feel to be in the remake playing the lead   role?

I am very grateful to T.K Rajeev Kumar sir for choosing me. Yea! The old movie is a classic; nobody can reach up to that limit. But still i think i did a pretty good job. Senior artists and director was very helpful so that i could do it without any nervousness.

5. There are rumors that you first rejected the offer to play the role in Rathinirvedham, Would you mind commenting on that?

I got this offer when i was acting in ‘Living together’. At that time I was no aware of such a classic. So I bought a copy of it and watched it. Then only i came to know that it was a yesteryear classic and when i talked with my family about taking up this project there was some dissension from the family members.  T. K Rajeev Kumar sir talked to my mom and it made her convince about the exact theme of the movie. After that with all the support from my family I started doing this project.

6 Two films back to back with legends in Molly wood , how do you see this opportunity ?

Starting my career with two legends are beyond words, It’s a great opportunity, actually everybody doesn’t get opportunities like these. By God’s Grace I was lucky enough to have this awesome  chance. By acting in Rathinirvedham I even got a chance to be a part of Padmarajan and Bharathan sir’s classic.

Maheswari Amma is one of the most talented actress of all time in mollywood . Many will be amused by that statement, because she is not known by her real name but a more popular stage name. She is none other than K.P.A.C Lalitha. At that time nobody would have started acting career so early. She started acting in some small plays at the age of 10. Geethayude Bali was her debut play. Later she Joined KPAC (Kerala Peoples Arts Club) and started her amazing journey of acting life by the screen name Lalitha. Later when she switched to big screen the name KPAC Lalitha followed her. kootukudumbam was her first film .

Her versatility and naturalistic acting made her one of the best actress in India and her national awards is a proof of her talent. He famous works include Amaram, Shantham, Neela Ponman . She played the role of Pappu’s (The central character of the movie Rathinirvedam) mother. She is acting in a major role in the remake of the movie Rathinirvedam after 33 years. After this movie she got married to Bharathan, the legendary director of the Rathinirvedam .

No introduction is necessary for the most renowned model and actress shwetha menon. She has been the beauty icon for several brands and has palyed in more than 45 films in multiple languages.Shwetha menon started her career in movies by playing the heroine of Mammootty in the movie Anaswaram in 1991. Many doubt that if she is a native Keralite. But as a matter of fact she was born at Tirur and studied in Kendriya Vidhyalaya, Kozhikode.

She competed in Miss India 1994 and came out as the second runner up only behind Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai. After her first movie she concentrated more into modeling.  She has been recently very active in Mollywood.  Her upcoming movie projects include Salt n’ Pepper and Rathi nirvedham .  Rathinirvedham is a remake of the movie by the same name directed by Bharathan. In this movie she plays the role which Jayabharathi played in the yesteryear Rathinirvedham.  The movie is being remade as a musical, to be directed T K Rajiv Kumar.

Last year she won the Kerala state Governemenst’s Best Actress award for her performance in the movie Paleri Manikyam.  Paradesi, Kerala Café, Keerthichakra are some of her successful Malayalam movies apart from the long list of movies in other languages.

T.K Rajeev Kumar started his film Career at the age of 21 as an Assistant Director with the Navodhaya production. He assisted for India’s very first 3d film” My dear Kuttichathan” under the Navodhaya banner. His Debut film as a director was Chanakyan, which had Kamal Hassan in the lead role with Urmila Matondkar and Jayaram.

He has served as the chairman of Kerala Chalachitra academy, Director of the International film festival Kerala. His masterpiece works include Pavithram, Thacholi varghese Chekavar, Kannezhuthi pottum thottu , Oru naal varum etc. which were different from the usual Malayalam movies of that era. He has done several successful Hindi films, short films and stage shows.

Now he is remaking one of the classic movies that changed the face of Malayalam movie industry, Rathinirvedam. Legend Bharathan was the director of the previous movie. T.K Rajeev Kumar is adapting the story line of the movie to present it in the new generation. Using the same old script that P. Padmrajan Wrote for the first movie , it might be a tough task to represent the movie in front of an
audience which has an entirely different taste of movie watching.

Rathinirvedam (1978) is known to a landmark movie in the Malayalam industry landmark movie with two legends behind the scene, P.Padmarajan and Bharathan. With the expressive writing style of Padmarajan and the Bharathan touch changed the whole outlook of Malayalam movie industry.

Padmarajan worked as an announcer at All india Radio (AlR) and he had to take voluntary retirement as he was becoming busy in film field.  Many criticized his sensual portrayal of sensualism, but even the critics respected the expressive way of storytelling by the master.

He started his career writing a screen play for Bharathan for the movie Prayaanam (1975).  Later turning into direction he made some major contributions to the industry with his brilliance as a writer. Rathinirvedam was adapted from the novel of Bharathan in the same title.

The remake of the movie starring swetha menon is using the same screenplay by the writer himself. The script is more or less the same as that of the Yesteryear Rathinirvedam . This itself shows the class of the writer who took an early vacation from life and left us with some classic movies of all time.

Rathinirvedam, the classic yesteryear movie directed by Bharathan and scripted by P. Padmarajan is going to be remade. Revathy Kalaamandhir, who started the trend of remakes with the highly applauded and successful remake of Neelathaamara, produce this movie. The original movie had actress Jayabharathi playing the title role of Rathi, which would be portrayed by Swetha Menon in the remake. This will be director TK Rajeev Kumar’s next outing after the comical Oru Naal Varum.
